Greetings to all,

Welcome to the official website of the Tau Rho Chapter of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated, proudly serving the Miami, Florida community.

My name is Amara Igwilo, and it is both an honor and a privilege to serve as Chapter President of the Tau Rho Chapter. Chartered in 2004, our chapter remains committed to advancing the enduring legacy and founding principles of Delta Sigma Theta.

Founded on January 13, 1913, by twenty-two collegiate women, Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Incorporated is grounded in the ideals of sisterhood, scholarship, service, and social action. The women of the Tau Rho Chapter proudly uphold this mission through intentional programming, academic excellence, and impactful community service initiatives that address the needs and concerns of the African American community throughout Miami and the greater South Florida area.

Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc. was founded on January 13, 1913 by twenty-two college educated women on the campus of Howard University. Our sorority is a public service organization who prides ourselves on sisterhood, scholarship, service and social action. 113 years later, we continue to follow in the footsteps of our founders by living in their legacy, making an impact, and being a voice for those in need.

Our sorority is currently a sisterhood of more than 350,000 predominately Black college educated women. This includes 1,000 collegiate and alumnae chapters located in the United States, Canada, England, Japan (Tokyo and Okinawa), Germany, the Virgin Islands, Bermuda, the Bahamas, and the Republic of Korea.

The major programs of the sorority are based upon the organization’s Five-Point Programmatic Thrust: 

● Economic Development
● Physical and Mental Health
● Educational Development
● Political Awareness and Involvement
● International Awareness and Involvement
